Daily Prayer Patterns

Why use a “Prayer Pattern?”

This tool is especially helpful to those who are developing their prayer life.

Imagine your life is like a garden given to you by God. You have family “planted” in your garden as well as friends and others. As your garden grows, weeds begin to pop up. You can ignore them, but then what? That is right. The weeds will “take over” and choke out growth. Sometimes the rain will not come, so you will need to water the garden so it will thrive. There may be times when a thief will try to slip into your garden and nibble away at your crops.

In my desire to see that I “cover” my garden, I developed a prayer pattern for each day of the week. I include it here for those who are like minded. A prayer pattern is this simple woman’s attempt to enable me to tend to each part of my garden each week. I don’t want any “fallow ground” in the territory God has given me. I also don’t want some deep growing weed to get a grip in my garden. I have included family needs, church needs, ministry needs, etc… and broken them down into “bite size” pieces for each day of the week. I have gleaned these through the years from others as well as my own experience in prayer. I do not consider it an exhaustive list, and I encourage you to develop a prayer pattern that fits your “garden.”

This prayer pattern is simply that – a pattern. It is not meant to handcuff you to a list that you must “finish” each day or else. Some days I am able to use the pattern. Other days, the Lord may lead me to focus on just one prayer need that is not included in the “pattern.”
